Abbreviations

The following terms do not vary those set out in the Building Act 1993 (the Building Act), Building Regulations 2018, Plumbing Regulations 2018 (the Regulations) or the National Construction Code (NCC).

  • ACN – Australian Company Number
  • AS – Australian Standard
  • AS/NZS – Australian/New Zealand Standard
  • Authorised Persons – the Authority (Building and Plumbing Commission), including its inspectors
  • Authorised surveyor or inspector – a person with an appropriate scope of registration, authorised to give an oral DTF on behalf of the RBS, within the restrictions of section 37A(3)
  • BAB – Building Appeals Board
  • BN/BO – Building Notice and Building Order
  • BP – Building Permit
  • BPC – Building and Plumbing Commission
  • BODRON – Breach of Dispute Resolution Order Notice BODRON
  • CFI – Certificate of Final Inspection
  • DCAP - Dual Check Valve with Atmospheric Port
  • DTF – Direction to Fix Building Work
  • EO – Emergency Order
  • MBS – Municipal Building Surveyor
  • NCC– National Construction Code
  • OP – Occupancy Permit
  • PBS – Private Building Surveyor
  • POPE – Place of Public Entertainment
  • PU – Penalty Units
  • RBS – Relevant Building Surveyor (PBS or Municipal Building Surveyor (MBS) named on the building permit)
