What is the BPC?
The Building and Plumbing Commission (BPC) brings together the Victorian Building Authority (VBA), Domestic Building Dispute Resolution Victoria (DBDRV) and the domestic building insurance arm of the Victorian Managed Insurance Authority (VMIA) into one location. Over the next 12 months, these services will be integrated.

Regulation, registration and licensing
Formerly managed by the VBA, the BPC regulates the building and plumbing industries in Victoria to improve outcomes for home owners, owner-builders, plumbers, builders, building companies and practitioners.

Domestic Building Insurance
Domestic Building Insurance (DBI) helps protect homeowners when something goes wrong with their building project. This service was previously delivered by VMIA and is now part of the BPC.

Disputes and complaints
The BPC provides a free service to help resolve domestic building disputes before they escalate. Previously delivered by DBDRV, this service is now part of the BPC. If you need to make a complaint about a practitioner, we’re here to guide you through the process.
