The Victorian Building Authority’s Proactive Inspections Program (PIP) Activity Report for Q2 2022 to 2023 details compliance monitoring of building and plumbing work across Victoria. During the quarter, the VBA conducted 1939 inspections across 50 municipalities, identifying compliance risks in 46% of sites inspected. The report outlines common building and plumbing non-compliances, compliance and enforcement actions, and emerging trends across residential and commercial construction. It also includes a special case study examining waterproofing and weatherproofing defects, highlighting the importance of early intervention to prevent costly water damage and improve building quality, safety and consumer outcomes.
