In August 2019, the Minister for Planning, Richard Wynne, issued a Statement of Expectations (SoE) and a Cladding Rectification Program Addendum for the VBA.
Cladding Safety Victoria (CSV) was established as a separate statutory authority under the Cladding Safety Victoria Act 2020 on 1 December 2020. A separate SoE has been issued to CSV by the Minister for Planning.
Progress in response to the SoE during 2019–20
The VBA’s response to the Minister’s Statement of Expectations (SoE) was submitted on 11 November 2019.
In a year marked by summer bushfires and the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the VBA adapted quickly, keeping consumers and industry top of mind as we continually adjusted and embraced change to improve performance.
Over half of the VBA’s commitments in response to the SoE and additional 2019–20 VBA Annual Plan priority actions were delivered by 30 June 2020. However, coronavirus restrictions required reprioritisation, revised timelines and approaches.
Remaining commitments will be delivered in 2020–21 and 2021–22.
