The following registration categories are, in most cases, considered equivalent when applying for building surveying registration in Victoria under the Mutual Recognition Act 1992.
The corresponding Victorian registration may be either Building Surveyor (Limited) or Building Surveyor (Unlimited), and conditions may be applied to the registration to maintain equivalency between jurisdictions.
To maintain equivalence with some jurisdictions, it may be necessary to issue a Building Surveyor (Unlimited) with conditions. It should be noted that a person holding this type of registration cannot undertake all the required functions required to be a municipal building surveyor (MBS) and therefore, cannot be appointed a MBS under section 213 of the Building Act 1993.
