Request an Insurance Information Statement

Request an Insurance Information Statement

An Insurance Information Statement tells you whether BPC has issued a Notice of Cover for Home Warranty work at a property on or after 1 July 2026.

If BPC can issue an Insurance Information Statement, it can tell you:

  • when Home Warranty cover ends
  • the maximum amount of Home Warranty cover available for the work, taking into account any assistance BPC has already paid.
  • BPC can only issue an Insurance Information Statement if a Notice of Cover has been issued for the property on or after 1 July 2026.

Who can request one

To request an Insurance Information Statement, you must have a legal right to make the request.

This means you must be:

  • the homeowner
  • a prospective purchaser
  • an owners corporation
  • an authorised agent for the homeowner, prospective purchaser or owners corporation.

You are required to pay a fee of $51.80 if you apply for an Insurance Information Statement. The fee payable is not refundable, including if a Notice of Cover could not be found in relation to the property you requested us to search or the information  you asked us to search is incorrect.

What it does not include

An Insurance Information Statement only includes Home Warranty information for domestic building work on or after 1 July 2026 where BPC has issued a Notice of Cover.

It does not include details of Domestic Building Insurance policies issued before 1 July 2026.

If domestic building work was carried out on or after 1 July 2026 and BPC has not issued a Notice of Cover for that work, the Insurance Information Statement will not include details of cover.

Before you request a statement

You will need to provide documents that show you are allowed to request the information.

BPC cannot process your request unless all required evidence has been provided.

If you are the homeowner

You need to provide a title search showing you own the property.

The title search must have been issued within the last 14 days.

If you are an owners corporation

You need to provide:

  • an owners corporation certificate prepared within the last 14 days
  • a copy of a lot title for the property address showing the name of the owners corporation, issued within the last 14 days.

If you are a prospective purchaser

You need to provide one of the following:

  • a signed offer to purchase showing your intention to purchase the property
  • evidence that you are registered with a real estate agent for an upcoming auction of the property
  • evidence that you are liaising with a real estate agent to inspect the property, and evidence that the property is advertised for sale.

If you are acting for the homeowner

You need to provide:

  • written authority from the homeowner authorising you to act on their behalf
  • a title search showing the homeowner owns the property, issued within the last 14 days.

If you are acting for a prospective purchaser

You need to provide:

  • written authority from the prospective purchaser authorising you to act on their behalf
  • one of the documents a prospective purchaser would need to provide.

If you are acting for an owners corporation

You need to provide:

  • written authority from the owners corporation authorising you to act on its behalf
  • the documents an owners corporation would need to provide.

Property details

You will need to provide details of the property.

Where possible, provide the lot and plan details as well as the street address.

This is especially important for multi-unit developments, as street addresses can change over time.

The section 32 statement may include the lot and plan details.

How to request a statement

    Request a statement

Request and pay for an Insurance Information Statement by submitting the online application.

    Fee and payment

Once your application has been assessed for completeness, you will receive an email with your customer reference number and a request to pay a $51.80 fee to process the application.

A request for payment does not mean BPC has issued a Notice of Cover for domestic building work at the property.

You are required to pay a fee if you apply for an Insurance Information Statement.

The fee payable for an Insurance Information Statement is not refundable, including if:

    • a Notice of Cover could not be found for the property you asked BPC to search
    • the information you asked BPC to search is incorrect.

For security, do not use payment links sent by email. Go directly to the official BPC website and use Westpac PayWay.

If you receive an email requesting payment or containing a payment link, disregard it and report it to BPC.

    What happens next

After you submit your application, BPC will review it and the documents you provided.

BPC will confirm whether you are entitled to request an Insurance Information Statement.

If your application can progress, BPC will email you with your customer reference number and payment instructions.

BPC will process your application after payment has been received.

Your Insurance Information Statement will be emailed to you within 7 working days after payment is received.

    Privacy

BPC collects personal information to process requests for Insurance Information Statements.

This is authorised by the Building (Statutory Insurance Scheme) Regulations 2026.

BPC may not be able to process your request if all or some of the required information is not provided.

By submitting your application, you agree to BPC disclosing the personal information collected to verify the information provided and process your application.

More information is available in BPC’s Privacy Statement.
